When it comes to the Oneonta community you can hardly go without the mention of one of our favorite sports teams, the Oneonta Outlaws! Originally the Saratoga Phillies, the Outlaws are now Oneonta’s pride and joy, playing in the New York Collegiate Baseball League and winning the championship in 2006. During the summer, the Outlaws draw fans from Oneonta and the surrounding areas, and you can check out their game schedule on their website, and get updates on their Facebook page.
Sports, particularly Baseball, have a large presence in the Oneonta community. If you’re looking for a fun-filled family time during the summer, Oneonta should be your headquarters for all baseball related things! We are only a short drive to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY, and the Cooperstown All Star Village, a world-class family baseball resort, is right in town! This baseball summer camp offers tournaments for participating teams, and has luxurious onsite facilities for families!
Baseball isn’t the only fun thing to do in town, and Oneonta has a diverse selection of leisurely activities for the whole family! If you’re looking for something fun but mellow, then go bowling at Holiday Lanes on Route 23. If you want get up and moving, then try out the rolling skating at Interskate 88, just across from the bowling alley. The latest movies are also available at the Southside Cinemas, located inside the Southside Mall, perfect for a night out with friends, family, or a date! For the nature lovers we have hiking and biking trail maps available at the Welcome Center, as well as the Joseph L. Popp Jr. Butterfly Conservatory.
Whether you’re a sports fan or just looking to enjoy the weekend doing something fun, Oneonta is the perfect place to meet all your leisurely needs!
