There is no shortage of entertainment in Oneonta. The town has a vibrant art scene from art students studying their craft at Hartwick College or SUNY Oneonta, to one of our many art galleries, and art co-op and supply shops! Places such as CANO, Michael Stolzer Fine Art, MAS: More Art Space, and Foreman Gallery at Hartwick College put on multiple shows a year showcasing local artists, as well as artists from all over the country. Our artist co-op, The Artisans Guild, features handcrafted home goods and décor, all locally made. ARTWARE on Main Street is an art supply and framing shop, which guides budding and experienced artists in finding everything needed to create their artwork.
Looking for entertainment and events? Orpheus Theater, Inc. is a not-for-profit community theater company that has been performing Broadway Hits in the Oneonta community for 30 years! The Oneonta Theater on Chestnut Street is a historic theater and venue, circa-1897, which showcases films, concerts, and community events. With its old-timey feel it is the perfect way to experience entertainment in an elegant and classic way. Destination Oneonta’s very own Events committee also puts on many events designed for anyone looking to have some fun in Oneonta. Although our events may change month to month, you can always count on our staple events that we have every year such as: The Holiday Parade, The Susquehanna Balloon Festival, The Christmas Tree Lighting, Annual Food Contests, and many more events! You can pick up an events calendar right at our welcome center, and read up on some of the cool events we have going on our website.
Events aren’t only limited to Destination Oneonta. Organizations such as Foothills Performing Art and Civic Center are a venue for concerts, receptions, weddings, bridals shows, festivals, craft and vendor shows, and holistic fairs. The Greater Oneonta Historical Society put on their annual Cake Walks, benefits auctions, ice cream socials, and more!
